After months of grinding through routines, tight deadlines, and the endless hustle and bustle of city life, my body and mind were crying out for a break. I started looking for a getaway spot that wasn’t too far from Singapore, but still offered a whole new vibe — calm, refreshing, and of course, Insta-worthy.
My choice eventually landed on a place in the Riau Islands that’s long been popular with staycation lovers: Lagoi, Bintan.
And that’s where I discovered a unique resort that immediately caught my eye — The ANMON Resort Bintan. It wasn’t just the desert camp-like look that attracted me, but the idea of a luxurious glamping experience that sounded way too good to pass up.
Journey to Lagoi: Easy and Fuss-Free
The journey started at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal. After a smooth one-hour ferry ride, I arrived at Bandar Bentan Telani Ferry Terminal in Bintan. The immigration clearance was quick and straightforward, and from there, it was just a short 5-minute drive to the Lagoi area, where The ANMON Resort Bintan is located.
The moment I arrived at the resort’s entrance, I could feel it — this was somewhere special.
It was like stepping into a different world. Rows of distinct cone-shaped tents stood tall against a dry, exotic landscape, almost like a modern-day desert oasis.
Glamping With a Touch of Luxury
I’ll be honest — I’m not the biggest fan of camping. Bugs, heat, basic amenities? No, thank you.
But The ANMON Resort Bintan changed my mind with their version of glamping — glamorous camping done right.
My tent was surprisingly spacious, air-conditioned, and outfitted with stylish, minimalist interiors in calming, earthy tones. There was a private bathroom (with hot water!), a comfy bed with soft linens, and even a skylight window that let me fall asleep under the stars — all without getting bitten by mozzies or disturbed by jungle sounds.
It was the best of both worlds: all the fun of being close to nature, with none of the usual discomforts.
Strategic Location, Steps Away from Crystal Lagoon
One of the highlights? Crystal Lagoon — Southeast Asia’s largest man-made saltwater lagoon — is just a stone’s throw away from the resort.
I only needed a short walk from my tent to reach the lagoon’s crystal-clear waters.
There, I tried out activities like paddleboarding, kayaking, and even riding a water tricycle (it’s a water bike — much harder than it looks, but super fun!).
For those coming with family or a group of friends, Crystal Lagoon is a definite must-do — plenty of space to splash around, relax, or just soak in the stunning scenery.
Dining in the Desert: The Compass Rose and TIPI Bar
No vacation is complete without great food, right?
Thankfully, The ANMON Resort Bintan has two excellent options: The Compass Rose and TIPI Bar.
The Compass Rose offers a selection of local Bintan favorites, along with a diverse mix of International, Asian, and Indonesian dishes — all beautifully presented.
My personal favourite? The Iga Bakar (grilled beef ribs) — juicy, tender, and packed with flavour.
As for TIPI Bar, it’s the perfect spot to chill with a cocktail while enjoying the sunset.
I loved hanging out at the Sunken Lawn area — with its desert-style fairy lights, soft music, and a light breeze… it honestly felt incredibly magical and relaxing.
Spa and Relaxation: Pampering in Nature
One thing you absolutely must try while staying at ANMON: a spa session.
I booked the “Spa Escapade” package, which included a one-hour massage with essential oils of my choice. In the hands of their professional therapists, all the tension and stiffness just melted away.
The spa is situated in a tranquil corner of the resort, surrounded by natural scenery and the soothing sounds of nature. It felt like having my private oasis — a complete escape from the city stress.
Fun Activities Around the Resort
Besides chilling at the resort, I also explored a few interesting spots around Lagoi.
First stop: Bukit Pasir Busung — a mini desert landscape with white dunes and a serene blue lake in the distance. Perfect for some Insta-worthy shots!
I also joined a boat tour through the Sebung River mangrove forest. Along the way, I spotted exotic birds, playful monkeys, and even a few monitor lizards.
It was a refreshing reminder of how rich and untouched nature still is in Bintan.
Friendly and Professional Service
What made my experience even better was the incredible service from the staff at The ANMON Resort Bintan.
From check-in to check-out, everyone was genuinely friendly, professional, and spoke fluent English and Malay.
They even provided me with personalised activity suggestions and went the extra mile to ensure my stay was enjoyable. It’s the kind of service that makes you want to come back again.
Suitable for All Types of Travellers
One thing I realised — The ANMON Resort isn’t just for one type of guest.
Couples would love the romantic glamping vibes. Families have plenty of space and activities to bond over.
And solo travellers like me? It’s the perfect place to unwind, recharge, and discover a different side of ourselves.
I also noticed that quite a few Singaporean corporate groups are hosting company retreats here — it makes sense, because the resort’s atmosphere is perfect for both work bonding and play.
An Unforgettable Getaway in the Heart of Lagoi
My stay at The ANMON Resort Bintan easily became the highlight of my year. It wasn’t just about comfortable accommodation — it was a whole experience: breathtaking views, great food, exciting activities, and peaceful moments that truly recharged my soul.
If you’re looking for a hotel in the Lagoi, Bintan area for a fun, peaceful, and memorable getaway, The ANMON Resort Bintan is it. Not just a place to sleep, but a destination that stays with you, long after the trip ends.
