When you hear the word “Bintan”, what probably comes to mind is white sandy beaches, turquoise seas, and a chill atmosphere far from the city’s hustle and bustle. But did you know, Bintan also has a very unique resort that’s quite different from your usual hotels — The ANMON Resort Bintan.
This time, I’d like to share my personal experience of staying there, complete with my first impressions, the facilities, and some tips if you’re planning a trip there soon.
First Impressions: Super Instagrammable Desert-Style Glamping
The moment I reached ANMON, the first thing that caught my eye was the shape of the rooms. Not your usual high-rise building or standard villa, but huge desert teepee-style tents! Very unique.
These tents are neatly lined up with a modern, minimalist design in ivory white — they look luxurious yet still feel very close to nature.
Outside, it felt like stepping into an oasis. Tropical vibes made me feel like lying down and relaxing straight away. Plus, Crystal Lagoon is just next to the resort, so you get amazing views of vast, crystal-clear waters.
Inside the Tent: Comfortable, Modern, and Spacious
Don’t be fooled — although it’s called glamping (glamorous camping), the comfort at ANMON is not the “roughing it out” kind.
Each tent is extremely spacious — 45 square metres — with a tall ceiling, making it feel very airy.
Inside, there’s a cosy king-sized bed, air-con, private bathroom (with hot water and full amenities) and Wi-Fi. Even the lighting is done up nicely — perfect if you love taking photos.
I enjoyed spending time on the private patio the most, sipping coffee and soaking in the fresh air.
Food: Indonesian and Asian Fusion – so Shiok!
The resort’s main restaurant, The Compass Rose, really surprised me. Honestly, I was prepared for the usual “meh” hotel food, but it turned out to be delicious!
I tried their Smoked Stingray Curry — tender stingray meat with fragrant curry spices, super shiok!
My friend had the Tongseng, and he said the meat was so tender it just fell off the bone.
After dinner, we headed to the TIPI Bar, a chill spot inside the resort with a good selection of drinks, from mocktails to cocktails. Sitting there, watching the sunset while feeling the breeze — wah, really felt like a more peaceful version of Bali.
Activities Around the Resort: Fun, Relaxing, and Close to Nature
One of the best parts of staying at ANMON is the direct access to Crystal Lagoon — said to be the largest man-made lagoon in Southeast Asia! Here you can try fun water activities like:
Kayaking
- Paddle boarding
- Giant slip & slide
- Cable Ski / Cable Tube (for the more adventurous)
I also participated in a nearby mangrove tour. We slowly cruised along the river, spotting wild birds, monkeys, and even monitor lizards, while learning about the local ecosystem. Very relaxing and eye-opening to see this side of Bintan’s natural beauty.
Spa Time: Massage, Aromatherapy, and Tropical Feels
After a full day of playing in the water and exploring, I treated myself to the Spa Escapade package at ANMON. The spa isn’t huge, but it’s private and very cosy. The therapists were friendly and professional, and their massage skills were top-notch — my whole body felt lighter after. With the aromatherapy scents and the natural sounds all around, it felt like escaping into a mini oasis. Even my friend, who usually isn’t into spas, ended up loving it.
Friendly Staff and Convenient Digital Services
One thing I appreciated was how easy everything was to manage. Check-in, food ordering, and buggy car requests can all be done through their digital concierge via Whatsapp.
The staff were also super friendly — from the security guards to the restaurant servers. Always smiling, always ready to help, and they spoke fluent English too.
Very convenient, especially for Singaporeans and international guests.
