Mondays are usually packed with meetings and long to-do lists, but this time, there was a fresh energy in the air. The HR team had just announced our company retreat to be held at The ANMON Resort Bintan, a resort known for its unique glamping concept and convenient location, just 1 hour away from Singapore via Bintan Resort Ferries.
For many of us, it was the first time joining a team bonding trip outside of Singapore. Excitement spread quickly. Pantry conversations shifted from work matters to what we should pack, what to wear in Bintan’s weather, and the hope of forging stronger bonds with colleagues.
The Journey Begins
We set off from Singapore’s ferry terminal and crossed over to Bandar Bentan Telani Port in Bintan, just about an hour by ferry. From there, it was a short 5-minute drive to The ANMON Resort Bintan. The smooth journey meant we arrived feeling fresh and ready.
The moment we arrived, we were greeted by rows of white, desert-style tents set against a desert-themed backdrop. The resort’s glamping setup was truly a refreshing change from typical accommodations. Each tent came with air-conditioning, a private bathroom, and a cosy lounge area. It felt like we had stepped into a different world, far from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Day One: Connecting Through Activities
After a hearty lunch, we gathered outdoors for a series of team-building games facilitated by ANMON’s experienced teambuilding partners. The icebreakers sparked laughter and quickly broke down formal barriers.
We were then split into groups to take part in various challenges—relay games, problem-solving missions, and rescue simulations. One highlight was the river crossing challenge, where we had to cross an imaginary river using limited tools. It pushed us to work as a team, communicate clearly, and think outside the box.
Crystal Lagoon Adventures: Working Together on Water
In the afternoon, we moved to Crystal Lagoon—the largest man-made seawater lagoon in Southeast Asia, conveniently located beside the resort. We took part in a rafting challenge, where teams had to construct their rafts using provided materials, then race across the lagoon. It was great fun, and more importantly, it strengthened our teamwork and coordination.
While some colleagues tried paddleboarding, others simply chilled by the lagoon and soaked in the scenery. The relaxed vibe and stunning views made the entire experience unforgettable.
A Warm Evening Together
As evening fell, we gathered at the resort’s BBQ area, beautifully lit with fairy lights and accompanied by soft acoustic music by a live band, which we engaged. The mood was cosy and laid-back as we tucked into delicious food and shared stories over laughter.
Later, the HR team led a reflection session. Everyone had a chance to express how they felt about the day’s activities. Many shared that they felt closer to teammates and more motivated to build better relationships at work.
Day Two: Rest, Recharge & Reflect
The next morning started with a peaceful yoga session by the lagoon—perfect for stretching out and resetting our minds. Some headed for a relaxing spa session, while others enjoyed quiet time at the café, sipping coffee and taking in the tranquil surroundings.
Before heading back to Singapore, we wrapped up with a closing session. Each group shared its key takeaways from the retreat. Many of us left feeling grateful and inspired to bring the same energy and team spirit back into the office.
The ANMON Resort Bintan: More Than Just a Resort
Our retreat at The ANMON Resort Bintan showed us that it’s not just a resort, but a well-run team bonding venue. With its accessible location, excellent facilities, and professional facilitators, it’s the perfect place for companies looking to build stronger teams.
